    Late-war Army Group Centre medal recommendations

    Hi,

    I just came across the following ULTRA signal, and thought people might be interested in it. I've typed it exactly as it is worded in the original:

    "No. 5806 stamped 2330/4/5 [1945] signed SCHOERNER, Generalfeldmarschall, C.-in-C. Army Gp. CENTRE, IIA, to OKH. Deputy Chief of Army $H$ Personnel Office, IIA, OKH. Personnel Office - P5, 1 Dept.:-

    Please give a decision as early as possible on following recommendations for distinctions,
    - Oak leaves with swords for General of Pz. Troops GRAESER [previously reported by ULTRA as GLAESER] C.-in-C. 4 Pz. Army
    - Oak leaves for Hptm. Meier, O.C. (Roman) I/Pz.G.R. 74.
    - Knights Cross for Gen.Maj. RUFF, G.O.C. Div. z.b.V. 609 (Fortress BRESLAU)
    - Knight's Cross for SS. Ostuf. ROGE, Bn. Commander in Regt. (smudge) (Fortress BRESLAU)
    - Knights Cross to K.V.K. for Oberst i.G. (LEUTZEUSSER) (smudge) QM. Army Gp. CENTRE.
    German Cross in silver for
    1) Oberst BRINKMANN, S.S.O. Army Group CENTRE.

      "Graeser/Glaeser" to me Graser,Fritz Hubert, Gen. d. Pz. Tr. OB4. Pz.Armee he got the Eichenlaubs mit Schwerten on 8.5.45 He was de leader of the 4. Panzerarmee from 21. september 1944 to capitulation in Heeresgruppe Mitte.
      "Schoerner" to me generalfeldmarschall Ferdinand Schörner-he was the leader of the Heeresgruppe Mitte from 17 january 1945-to capitulation
      "SS ostuf ROGE" to me Rogge,Alfred, SS-Obersturmführer, Fhr. 1./SS-Fest.-Rgt. 1,Breslau, he won the KC on 9. may 1945, he wounded and passed away in Kriegsgefangenen-Lazarett in Breslau-Lissa on 12. may 1945
