Gentlemen,
These three photos were given to me today by one of my Special Forces brothers and retired sergeant major. My buddy first met Artur when he (the SGM) was a first sergeant stationed in Augsburg many years ago. He told me Artur was like a second father.
From what I was told, Artur was drafted into the Wehrmacht in 1938. He served in Poland, France, Russia and Italy. I believe he may have been cavalry, as there was a story about losing all of the horses during that first Russian winter, hence the reaplacement; a Spahwagen. Artur is fourth from the left, black panzer wrap and trousers.
Any information on Artur, anyone he may have served with, or any of the units/campaigns he served in wolud be greatly appreciated.
