    Jagdeschwader 27 Fighter Pilot

    Hi All

Picked up a 1st Patt Luftwaffe Dagger maker Horster mint condition. On the blade is etched the name "Ernst Klopp". I have done some research and can trace him to the Jagdeschwader 27 Staffel 4 (North Africa) area fyling ME109s. He has confirmed kills on 11/11/42 when he shot down a Curtis P-40 S.E of Sollum in Eygpt. On 5/4/43 he shot down a P-38 W. of the island of Marettimo in the Med. I can find no further trace of him. Any suggestions on where to look next as to what happened to him and did he survive the war or not. Hope someone can help.

He is not listed in the Volksbund list as KIA/MIA.

      Hi,

In the Hans Ring and Werner Girbig book on Jagdgeschwader 27, Ernst Klopp is said to have survived the war.

      Cheers,
      Andrew A.

Many thanks to Andrew and Gerdan for talking time to reply with another part to the puzzle. I will continue my research into Ernst Klopp and establish why only 2 notified kills are credited to his name. Thanks once more.
