    Question, German SoldierRecords

Two questions for anyone that might know the answer and who can point me in the right direction or provide any assistance.

I have the name of a German soldier killed in action in 1945. I know his date of death and his current place of burial, so my question is:

Is there anywhere in the German archives (government) that I can find the unit that he was in at the time of his death? Are the records easily accessible and what are the typical cost for such search?

Lastly, is there anywhere that I might be able to determine from where (town, village, church cemetery) his body was exhumed and moved to its current burial location?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Dave

You should start and ask the Volksbund about the fate of your guy. They often do have more information specially on his first burial place and his unit. They are more willing answering you than the WASt.
