    A german soldier, lost somewhere..

    I am new at this site, and this is my first thread..

    I have tried hard to locate a german soldier, i know it is one man out of thousands, but still...I went through all the possible organs, WAST, Red Cross(but they still havent replied), Volksbund and even standesamtes Rüdersdorf where he was born.

    His name is Robert Bressel, born 20.01.1911 in Berlin kalkeberge (now Rüdersdorf) He joined the Whermacht, rank gefreiter, and from 1941 - oktober 1944 his was posted at the airport (greatly expanded by the germans) Aalborg / Denmark, this airfiled was used as a springboard to Norway during Weserübung.

    His unit in Denmark Had this Fieldpostnumber 45079, The unit was transformed
    into 13. Bat. Art. Reg. 416 and during 8. - 13. oktober 1944 they where sent to Saarphalz.

    Acoording to WAST they have the last message from this unit at 13. oktober 1944, and they say that they stayed there until the end of the war. they have no death/or postwarhistory on him.

    Now - from here there is a few options;

    1. Either he was killed and impossible to identify.
    2. Or He fled the scene and hid somewhere.
    3. Or He was captured and sent where?

    I just recently learned about the great number of camps inside the UK, USA, Canada and Australia. But if he was captured in Saarphalz or nearby, where did he go? I also know that many german POW stayed in the UK, married someone and began a new life. Robert Bressels homeadress during the war was in down town center of Berlin, maybe on the eastside.

    Does anyone here know how to search the POW's - is it even possible?
    Or do you know anything in detail from the figthing around Saarphalz?

    Please help me I am up against the wall

    Have you tried to contact the Einwohnermeldeamt in Rüdersdorf???

    If so, what did they say?

    Have you looked under www.teleauskunft.de?

    Good luck
