World War 2 battles in the republic of Moldova?

Hi! I'm moving to Moldova and I am therefor very interested in the WW2 history there. I've googled "World war 2 in Moldova" and can almost not find anything.. I guess because maybe it had a different name back then? Does anyone know of any battles in the republic of Moldova and where they took place? (Besides the big citys!)
