How to research US Service member?

Hello friends

How does one investigate a US service member from Korea and Viet Nam?

He died in a car accident in 1976 and being born in 1924.

Anyone got a good idea how to research US units this person was in. In would suspect he served the classic 20 years in US Army and thereafter got retired until killed in a car crash.

All help appreciated.

Electronic Army Serial Number Merged File, ca. 1938 - 1946 (Enlistment Records)

If he enlisted pre 1946, you´ll maybe find here his Enlistment Record with his Army Serial Number:
