    Heer Art.Abt.(s.F.H./mot.)III.139

    Hello,

I'am searching for info about this unit for september - oktober 1944:

    Heer Art.Abt.(s.F.H./mot.)III.139

    How was it equiped?
Lexikon doesn't give detailed info upon this.
    Thanks in advance.

It had 2 batteries of 4 x 15cm s.F.H.18, as per a standard 20th Wave infantry division (it had been formed for the 39 ID)
Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

        Hi all !

This is my first post on this interesting forum !
I joined here to learn more details on those rare units, which can be identified only by Soldbuch entries etc. ...
        Also on biographies ...

        Regarding Heeres-Artillerie-Abteilung (mot.) III./139 :
After Art.Rgt. 139 was dissolved end of 1943, III./Art.Rgt. 139 became independent (Heerestruppe).

In September 1944, this unit was refitting in WK VI. Because of the Allied air drop at Arnhem, it was
alerted and sent to the front immediately via Dingden (10 km S of Bocholt) to the area of Kleve
(Div. Nr. 406, Korps Feldt, 1. Fs.Armee), where it arrived on September, 19th.

From WK VI records, at this time the Abteilung was organized as :
        - Stab
        - Stabs-Batterie
        - 2 batteries with 6 s.FH.(15 cm) each

        Strength at activation : 12 Officers / 64 NCO / 342 EM

        Equipment :
        12 s.FH (15 cm), 10 l.MGs., 6 motoc., 42 cars, 39 trucks, 12 Zugkraftwagen and 14 specialised Kfz. of different types.

Commander : Hptm. von Sosten (could be misspelled)

On the 20.9., the unit assisted KGr. Becker in the attack on Wyler.

The unit must have left Corps Feldt shortly after that.
It was under command of II. Fs.Korps from Oct., 8 - 17.

That's all I have on that unit (infos from the respective KTBs of Korps Feldt and II. Fs.Korps).
If there are further infos available, it would be great !

        Cheers,
        Archi

Did reed your post just now.
          Thanks a lot

This unit stayed just a couple of days under command of korps Feldt and then pulled out and left towards Arnhem for a few days.
