    Info on KK Cohausz

    Hi Guys,

I am looking for awards information on KK Hans Cohausz. He appears to have had a very good carreer yet I do not find him on the awards list for KC,DKiG, or DKiS. This seems odd but plausible. He most likely had service awards for 4 and 12 years. Probably also the Oct 1st medal. Memel?? Does anyone have info for awards he receiived??

This is what I have found so far:
    Class 1926
U-Lehr division from September 1935 to April 1936.
    F.d.U. May 1, 1936 to September 21, 1936.
    Commanded U-15 U-Flotilla "Weddigen" : 16 May, 1936 - 2 Aug, 1936<O</O
    Commanded U-30 U-Flotilla "Saltzwedel": 8 Oct, 1936 - 31 Oct, 1938<O</O
    U-Flotilla "Hundius" of 01 Novembre 1938 to 03 Janvier 1939.
    Staff officer in F.d.U. from 04 Janvier 1939 to September 16, 1939.
    Commanded U-A: (7.U-Flotilla) of September 17, 1939 to October 31, 1940
Responsible for sinking of 7 ships
    Commander 1st U-Flotilla, Brest, France: (11th October 1940 to 14th February 1942).
    Commander U-A (2.U-Flotilla) of February 14 1942 to May 14, 1942
    Commander 11th U-Flotilla, Bergen, Norway: Korvettenkapitän (15 May, 1942 to December 19, 1944) Promotion to Fregattenkapitän (1 Aug, 1944).

    Thanks in advance

    Warmest regards,
    Terrence

      Thank you Rick

So, how did I do in my novice approach to finding info?? May I assume that the way you cite your reference sources leads back to the master post of references? If so, very cool!!

I have looked over for picturs of him thinking one would show his ribbon bar. No go yet but I will keep on looking.

      Thanks again Rick!!

      Best regards,
      T

          CO. UA 17.09.39 - 31.10.40

For his wartime period on UA I think he must have received the Uboatbadge, EK2 and EK1.

Do you think that because he was on U-30, Oct 1, 1938 (2nd flotilla?) he would have been "on station" and received that meadl? I guess I could loook to see if there are and others from U-30 at this time who received the Oct 1st medal. I have spent hours looking through the web for a picture of him with a ribbon bar but no luck yet.

            Best regards,
            T

              Ahah...

He U-30 was on duty during the Spanish Civil war:
              19.8.37 - 2.11.37
              30.7.38 - 16.8.37
              5.9.38 - 22.10.38
so he most likely would have a Spanish Cross without swords??
I also found one photo which looks to have him wearing the Oct 1st medal and another lesser award which I was unable to identify for certain.
              still on the hunt

I saw that source. Like many, his records for service medals appears incomplete. I have seen photos of him with service ribbons. One was return of the sudaten land. Jucould not make out the second one he was wearing.
