    795 & 797 Georgian battalion in Normandy

    Hello

I’m interested in knowing the whereabouts of the 797 & 795 Georgian battalion during the Normandy battle

    - The 795 was in Turqueville on Dday and fought south of St mere eglise attacking the 505 PIR at 10am, where roughly 330 mens surrender to the 8th Infantry regiment thanks a Russian speaking American officier.

But what happened to the other 500 remaining mens ? did they joined an other kampfgruppe or did they had a significant action somewhere else ?

    - The 797 was a couple of miles north of Coutances on Dday
I have read on a webiste that they refuse to fight went trough the Cotention battle with some mens trapped in Cherbourg
Does someone has such an account ?

    Please share your informations

    Thanks

Thanks it fills a lot of gaps

Finally they did not put up the fight at the first occasion ...

Only 178 among 833 easily dropped their gun once American came into first contact with them ...
