According to the "Dienststellen, Kommandobehörden und Truppenteile des Heeres" by Wegmann and Zweng. Müller is shown as being replaced by a Georg Graf zu Castell-Castell on the 30.03.44. He is then replaced sometime in June by an Oberstleutnant Detlev von Platen.

            Gentlemen!

Thank you! Allow me to tell you the background of why I am looking for this information!

When the remainder of the Tarnopol fighters broke out towards the west to meet the 9. SS and Panzerverband Friebe - 50 of these men made it up the the front lines of the 357. ID ( I am writing the divisional history of this division). The 357. was only able to save 5 of these men. The rest were pinned down and captured by the Soviets, herded into a house and the house was hit with artillery. The Ia of the 4. PZ Armee called it a "Schande" that the 357 was not able to save the men (take into consideration in March 1944 it was Priority 1 to save the men encircled at Tarnopol). The 4. Pz. Armee Ia called for the replacement of the 357. ID Karbe. Karbe was later replaced, but only in 1945 in Austria for giving up two villages without a fight. He was given command of Jgr. Rgt. 38 as "Frontbewährung."

Thank you VERY much! You are helping me fill in the holes of the divisional history!

            Sincerely.

                      Major Jürgen Karbe

I found a picture, underneath was written: "Major Jürgen Karbe 1943 bei den Pferden", "Major J. Karbe 1943 at the Horses".....

I`ll do some research, I believe he was in duty for the german Bundeswehr after WW II...

If it is of interest, I can mention here that Jürgen Karbe died about 7 years ago.
