Info about German soldier - Karl Gass

I'm been asked to help research a German soldier who served in WW2, and would appreciate any advice on where to begin.

The only information I have is:

Karl Gass
DOB: 9th November 1912
Town of residence: Offenbach, Frankfurt

I know this isn't much to go on, but can anyone point me in the right direction to begin my search?
