    SS Obersturmfuhrer Jurgen Wessel

Hi I am looking for information on SS Oberststurmfuhrer Jurgen Wessel.

Especially March 1945 through the end of 1945. Combat locations, transfers, POW locations, etc.

The photo of his tank in Belgium is famous but his time after that photo has been diificult to find anything on line.

Anything will help and be much appreciated.

I cannot help you with his pre 45 career - but he joined the new German forces in 1956 and reached the rank of Oberstleutnant. In the 1960s he was commander of my tank bataillon. The older comrades told me he was a nice man, but not a great tanker
    He died in the 1980s.

I knew only his wife. When I joined the bataillon he was already dead.

Around late March'45, he's involved in the battle near Inóta, Hungary according to Agte in his book about Wittmann.

Thanks, I do have that piece of info, but what was his locations in April? Was he wounded or transferred back to Germany or stayed at with the 501st?

I don't have further information, but if you haven't had this source already ''Drama between Budapest & Vienna: The Final Fighting of the 6th Panzerarmee in the East 1945'' by Georg Maier? This might be worth buying. It's quite expensive though, about 100 bucks on Amazon.
