Quick follow up question before the dust gets too thick on this thread...

Am I correct in assuming that the -73- St.O.Btl.Dolm.Zug Kbg. reference is to some sort of specialist field translator unit?

Yes, Number 73 is his number within that unit, it was the Translator Platoon, Garrison Battalion Königsberg.

He has two dog tags (Erkennungsmarke) as he was initially inducted into the Abwehrstelle, General Kommando I in Königsberg, discharged during 1940? and recalled 20.2.1942 with the Dolmetscher Zug.
