    Africa 1943: Kampf Gruppe Burgermeister?

Does anyone have any information on a Kampf Gruppe Burgermeister which fought in Tunisia in 1943? A friend of mine who was a motorcycle recon veteran in Africa signed a photo for me and wrote this above his name a few months back. He told me that the fighting in central and northern Tunisia was chaotic and that battle groups were formed which contained members of various German units that were understrength and depleted from battle. Thanks in advance.

This is all I can find at the moment:

Tunis Field Battalion T3: Hauptmann Michael Bürgermeister, relieved of command for negligence on 5 March 1943 by Hauptmann Lerch, on the direct orders of Generalmajor Hasso von Manteuffel

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunis_Field_Battalions

It would appear to have been part of Division von Manteuffel.

      Ian,
Thanks for the information. I wonder why Hauptmann Michael Bürgermeister was ruled to be neglegent? If anyone has additional information, I would be most grateful. Here is the signed photo by my buddy Horst. One of the most valued DAK items in my collection.
