Hi Guys,
I bought a paperwork grouping from Hauptmann Herbert Ranner in the 45th ID which I tought was just a nice Infantry officer grouping. And so it was only that Herr Ranner turned out to be a wearer of the Blutorden as well.
Herbert Ranner was born in Klagenfurt in 1913 and probably moved at some point in time prior to 1940 to Admont in Steiermark with his mother. He may also have lived in Salzburg and or Linz prior to the war. Does anyone have any info on Herbert Ranner as an illegal nazi in Austria and why he was awarded the Blutorden? If anyone has any paperwork, photos et cetera I of course would be very interested to see those.
Cheers, W
