Unit Designation Help

I recently acquired a named WWII Army officer's tunic. The set included his war souvenirs. Among them is a dog tag w/ the unit designation

STAB LEI. ABT 987 (O) A30


Does anyone have insight in to this unit? I'm especially interested to know where it served

Thanks...the US vet served in the 44th Infantry Division, which captured Mannheim 28-29 March 1945........
