Major Von Strum 1943

I have a helmet named to a Major Von Strum and dated 1943. I take the view the the name was perhaps added by it's captor and not the owner himself. Sadly, this perhaps means that Major Von Strum was KIA. Can anyone offer any information on the man? Regards, Simon

IMO, the name was recently added - note the pencil strokes of the "V" is visible on the area were the top of the leather has flaked off.

"von Strum" normally would be the name of a German noble family - but this name does not

exist in Germany, not even one name "von Strum" in the recent German phone book or the

Volksbund list.

The family name "Strum" (without "von")does exist.
