Gentlemen,
We all know that Heinz Baer, the 220 air-to-air victory ace and the holder of the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords had been recommanded for the Diamonds at least three times but was turned down. I recall looking at a German web site that said that Luftwaffe General Robert Ritter von Greim was a holder of the Diamonds but that can't be true. He must had been recommanded for one. One last that I knew was that Generalmajor Franz Bake,a Heer Panzer leader was in for the Diamonds but was turned down by Heinrich Himmler. The question is,do know more of any other Wehrmacht servicemen that were recommanded for the Diamonds but for some reason didn't get through for final approvel?
Sincerely,
Edward L. Hsiao
