I'm not sure, there's so little data available about those last months of the war. Are you only after the close combat days of Gilbert? Because there's quite a lot of info about others from AA LAH in my files. For example...

      Gilbert

      Hi T.

Thanks for contributing with copies of these great and interesting documents!

I was sent this listing some time ago of Wilhelm Gilbert's 51 registered close combat days for the clasp in gold.

Yup, I have a copy of the original Vorschlag that lists the Nahkampftage you've listed. It is basically yhe only source which details the actions the Abteilung was involved in in January 1945.

The history of 2./AA LAH after that last date is very sketchy which makes it almost impossible to compile the close combat days of the company, let alone those Gilbert participated in. Even worse because in the end there was hardly something one could call the "Zwote", the remnants of the companies were combined into small task forces which played what Walter H from 2./AA described as "ein reines Katz- und Mausspiel" with the overwhelming Soviet forces: "Die Abteilung kämpfte ums Überleben" until they reached the Enns River.

          Hi Markus
Can you expand on Willy Gilbert being considered a legend.
          Is he still with us?

SS-Obersturmführer Hans-Martin Leidreiter, German Cross in Gold winner, adjutant and acting commander of the LAH recon battalion, made reference to Wilhelm Gilbert in the Leibstandarte history vol IV/2, calling him a 'legendary Oberscharführer Gilbert' a very experienced and brave recon soldier. I think it's quite significant that not only did he win the Close Combat Clasp in Gold, but he actuallly got the German Cross in Gold as well, proving his continues acts of bravery in the field. Gilbert passed in the beginng of the 80ies if I recall correctly now. I hope that helped a little.

            Markus
