    84. Infanterie Division

I am working to complete my thesis for a masters in military history. The thesis centers around the 139th Airborne Engineer Battalion of the 17th A/B division. As everyone is aware they landed near Wesel on 24 March 45 and fought against the 84 Infantry Division. I have had a difficult time finding much on the 84th and was hoping forum members could provide any details to help with the thesis. Next year the thesis will turn into a book, written from a collector's perspective. I have been collecting only 139th AEB militaria for about 10 years and will produce a few volumes, Vol 1 being the unit's history. I think it would be great to include any items form the opponents of the 139th, the 84th being one of them.
If anyone would like to provide any digital images of 84th items in support I would add them to the book with full credit of course. If anyone is interested in selling any 84th items I would gladly hear what you have to sell also. I have been an active ebay buyer/seller for over 10 years, have been active on the g-503 and the USmilitaria forum as well under the name '17thairborne"

    Sincerely,

    Ozzie Gorbitz, Colonel USAFR

    Hello Ozzie,

This sounds like a very interesting project and I wish you good luck with it. Have you pulled the 84th's KTB or other divisional data from NARA?

OK, I already see the challenge. The 84th's data is not within the divisional data at NARA so I change my question to:

Have you check at the LXXXVI Korps data?

        Mike,
Thanks for the messages. I was able to download one of the Foreign Military Studies series from footnote.com. B843. It covers general info for Operation VARSITY and will help. There is one overlay, but it is very general in nature. I suppose during the Mar-May time frame the ability to keep up with documents and after action reports became very difficult. We'll keep searching. If you need it I can forward it.
