    Decipher II./Schutz.Rgt.12 Please

    Hi Guys,

    Please excuse my ignorance but never having served in the military myself, I am still confused by order of battle. I have a ring from my batallion flag that reads II./Schutz.Rgt.12. Am I correct that this means Infantry Regiment 12 of the Second Infantry Division?

    I'm trying to do research on it with the book "Hitlers Legions" but have gotten myself confused. PLEASE HELP!!!

    That would be:

    II. Bataillon, Schützen Regiment 12

    or

    2nd Battalion, Rifle Regiment 12. This was part of 4 Panzer Division. It was renamed 10.7.1942 to Panzer Grenadier Regiment 12.
