    Heeres-Küsten-Batterie 507

I recently obtained a Wehrpass for Hauptmann Gustav Schliffkowitz who was CO of Heeres-Küsten-Batterie 507 between 6.4.1943 and 14.2.1944

I haven't been able to find any good information regarding where HKB 507 was located during that time. I know they were somewhere in Northern Finland, but where?

Not Northern Finland but Juminda in Estonia.

      Thank you!

That is interesting. In his Wehrpass it says that he served in Northern Finland during this time and continued his service in other unit (in Geb. AOK 20), until the end of the war. He even got Lappland Shield?!

            what horrible writing.

            See for yourself

            http://www.nuav.net/coastgr9.html

however, there's another alternative. Some coastal artillery batteries and battalions were used as conventional artillery. Artillerie Abteilung 504 is an example. It could also be a 2 rather than a 7.

I'll see if i can find anything amongst the XVIII and XXXVI geb. korps.

The other units mentioned from late '42 onwards i'd also like to figure out.

Can you make out what comes before AOK 20 in the second to last entry and the part before trupp 140 in the last? something like Fhr. *******trupp 140

That at least i can tell you belonged to the 9 Gebirgs Division.

I guess there is a chance that HKB 507 transferred from Estonia to Finland and as you say was then used as conventional artillery unit. Although I have never heard of that unit being in Finland before I got this Wehrpass.

I really think that it says "507". Of course it can be a typo, but "501","503" ,"504" or "505" doesn't really match in this case. I know there was a MKB 507 in Norway, but this is totally different unit.

HKB 502 was in Kristiansand, so that doesn't really match either.

If you look at this site you'll find HKB 507 mentioned in a German document being at Juminda (use google chrome for page translation)

                http://tsushima.su/forums/viewtopic.php?id=3047&p=5

lexikon mentions it being used to form HAA 1002 in may 44 in North russia, which would tie in with it being in Estonia earlier, so i really dont think this is a 7

I'll see what i can find later on.

the 215 entry i've got, it's leichte artillerie ersatz abteilung 215
the last one i think is Kdr Div. nachschubtruppe 140

the 184 is a problem, it's not an artillery battalion or regiment

the Nord Finnland entry was used throughout the 20 Geb.Armee area which doesn't help.

Speaking about that "Nord Finnland" entry, maybe that first one is just a clerks mistake?

Those unit entries would make bit more sense then, since I can't find any unit with number "184" that would have been in Finland during that time.

The closest i can get is Kgf. Arbeits Btl.184 but that was in central Norway.

What do you make of the word in front of (Geb.)AOK20 in the second to last entry?

Do you have the WP yet? if so are there any stamps that might help?

I have a lot of archive material including orders of battle for 20 Geb.Armee from 44 and 45, also from the XIX Geb korps for 42-45 but i'm missing 42 and 43 for the army as a whole, however it remained more or less the same throughout, there were only a few smaller units moved about.

The last four units look like:

                        Bau Batl. 184
                        Heeres Küsten Bttr. 507
                        Führerreserve (Geb) AOK 20
                        Kdr.Div.Nachschubtruppe 140

However I can not find anything re: 184 either at the moment!

                          Führerreserve, that makes sense.

I've found 507 mentioned in Nafziger, late '42 to mid '43 it had 2 17cm guns, by January 44 he calls it a 'garrison battery' with 3 17cm guns.

Just had a quick read of this thread and hopefully not repeated any of the info.

I find Heeres-Küsten-Batterie 507 as Heerestruppen under XXVI Armee Korps from 9.7.1942 until 11.1.1943. During that time the Korps was under Heeresgruppe Nord around Leningrad.
From 24.1.1943 until 1.3.1943 within Gruppe Hilpert (LIV Armee Korps) again Heeresgruppe Nord around Leningrad.

As Simon mentioned HKB 507 was used to form HAA 1002 in North Russia May 1944.

However the dates you are after I can not find anything at the moment.

One mention on Sturmvogel that may be misleading, however the last location and Korps looks promising?

                              Art.Bttr. 507 (bo.)
                              formerly H.Küsten-Art.-Bttr. 507?
