Looking for an Officer of the Windhund-Division

I'm looking for the name of a Leutnant from Panzer-Aufklärungs-Abteilung 116.

I have most of the Lt’s awards and some uniform pieces including his dog-tag. Plus some of his post war Windhund veteran’s meeting publications – but no name. Everything related to the man’s identity was meticulously removed. The only item left that can positively identify him, is the ID-disk - but Berlin won’t tell me.

The man in question served as a NCO with 2./Aufklärungs-Abteilung (mot) 341 in 1941/42 – Then, in summer of 1942 he was transferred to 4./Kradschützen-Batl.165 which was renamed in spring of 1943 to Pz.A.A.116. At one point he was commissioned to Leutnant. He surrendered as a Reconnaissance Lt with the Windhund-Division to the Americans in 1945.

Now, is it possible to find his name in the US POW files?

Did the Americans record the German ID-disk info in the captured officer's file?

Could a search of the POW files of the officers of Pz.A.A.116 or 116.Pz.Div. reveal the name?

    Regards

Hi Naxos, someone that haunts NARA would know. There are a lot of files for captured SS officers and intelligence summaries with names for some Heer officers but the only ones I have seen/looked for were Nebel officers. Some units had post War address books for members that list units and ranks etc. Is there still a active Veteran organization? BA-Freiburg might have the original unit lists with the tag numbers recorded, those are rare but they are a unit roster with a log of tag numbers and basic info on the person etc.

              You may need more information.

In Guderian's "From Normandy to the Rhine" he lists the following Lt's at the end of the war.

Adjutant - Oberleutnant d.R. Theodor Adam
              2nd Company - Oberleutnant d.R. Karl Andreis
3rd Company - Oberleutnant Johann Sesterhenn
4th Company - Oberleutnant Kurt Michler

I do not know if this helps....

Thank you so much - any little clue helps!

These are PzAA116 officers I presume?
