    Kavallrie Regiment unit marked?

    Hi guys,

I recently acquired a 1939 dated bayonet that shows very little use. The back of the frog has several marks and I haven't had much luck deciphering them. Since they appear to be unit marks, I thought I'd try posting in this forum rather than the edged weapons forum. Does anyone know what they mean, or can you point me in the right direction?

    Thanks!

From top to bottom, the frog is marked:

    K.R.SL.Rud. (there may be a "." between the S and the L)

    frog maker mark dated 1936

    St___ -Komp. (lightly stamped)

    B.A. (clothing/equipment depot I believe)

    W.V.F?H.No.

        Hi,

It's a date of 1936 that's part of the frog maker's stamp. I think you're seeing a combination of the 3 and the stamp that's over it. It's light, but I think the other stamp is "StuW - Komp." The W is touching the left edge of the 3.

Wel St.W. Komp would mean stabswach kompanie, ie. the HQ guard company.

The Fl.H.No part could be Fliegerhorst Norderney

Thanks for the replies. I don't see an LBA, just BA, but the brown color of the frog would certainly imply Luftwaffe. Could be the L just wasn't stamped strongly.

Any ideas on the "K R S L Rud" mark at the top? I was thinking Kavallrie Regiment _____, but on a Luftwaffe frog...? Maybe it's something else.
