    units around Vilnus Lithuania

    Hello All,

A while back I bought three belt buckles (relic) from a man at my local flea market. He said he bought them from a man who lived in vilnus when he visited it. Now i know there are a lot of issues when it comes to this between never believe the story that goes with it and they could be grave robbed pieces. What I would like to know though it what units were there, how bad the fighting was, if there are many relics found in the area today, etc.... Can anyone help with this?

Search on google, there was a Russian offensive in that area in the last quarter of 1944.
I forgot the name of the offensive, so you'll have to search it yourself.
At least the 131.Infanterie-Division was in the area (not at Vilnus itself).
I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.
