Feldpost Question

Hello Gents

I have a WB in black document dated 10-04-1944. It belongs to Grenadier Josef Gratz. His feldpostnummer is 59079.

Does somebody know which unit he belongs and where this unit was fighting on 21-02-1944. In his soldbuch the wounded code is 31b is mentioned with the date 2-3-1944. 31b is wounds caused by handgrenade, mortar, artillery (shrapnel). There is also a stamp from kriegslazerette 934 Chirurgische Abteilung.

Thanks for your reply. This unit is mentioned on page 4-B-b. Good chance he was wounded near Anzio bridgehead. Apperently the 1028 gren regiment was fighting there.

Grenadier-Regiment 1028



Aufgestellt am 20. November 1943 als motorisiertes Regiment als Heerestruppe. Im Juli 1944 wurde das Regiment in Italien auf die 715. Infanterie-Division aufgeteilt.

In July 1944 it became part of the 715. Inf. Div. which also fought in Italy.
