    Imperial Generalmajor Help

I'm trying to run to ground the unit/units that Hauptmann Friederich Ludwig Granier was assigned to during the Franco Prussian war. He remained in the army after the war and rose to the rank of Generalmajor by 1914.
Born 22 Oktober 1840 in Fraustadt and died 1918 in Hannover.

Picture of him during the war.

    Awards Question

Also trying to figure out why he would strip one medal brace to update it with the addition of the battle bars to the F-P Campaign medal and 25 year oak leaf device and leave off an order of the crown in favor of a 25 year service cross or why he would have sacrificed that award while he added the Centenial Medal. Any speculation would be appreciated.

      Felix Granier

The then Premier-Lieutenant Felix Granier was serving as the Regimental Adjutant of Niederschlesisches Feld-Artillerie-Regiment Nr. 5. He retired from the Prussian Army as an Oberst and Regimental Commander of Feldartillerie-Regiment Nr. 1 in 1894 but received the charakter promotion to Generalmajor on 10 September 1910.

          Hi Kondor

His basic details can be found in the published army lists of the Prussian Army . His brevet promotion to Generalmajor was gazetted in the 11 September 1910 edition of the Militär-Wochenblatt.

His decorations prior to retiring as a Colonel were as follows:

Red Eagle order 3rd Class with Bow
          Crown Order 3rd Class
          Iron Cross 2nd Class
          Officers' Long Service Decoration

          Regards
          Glenn

            Hello Kondor.

Interesting bar and soldier there. May I ask if the KO3 is a Type 1 or Type 2?
            Best regards,
