Hi,
I'm looking for information about Major d. Res. Felix Hanning (RKT in 1941)
I'm particularly interested when did he became Kdr. I/J.R.9 and what what was his late war carieer (if any).

Felix Hannig, also holder of EBS 08.08.1941. Died 23.07.1941 Mogilew/Rußland, so both the EBS and RK post mortem.

Also a Max Hannig in II./Gren.Rgt.9, awarded EBS 15.05.1944 as Oberleutnant. Possibly a relative?

Heh. This is a longer story and as I got very excited with it my research was bit chaotic. I have just found an answer and... I got even more excited with results...
Some years ago a friend of mine found an ID tag at the premisses of former NKVD POW camp in Silesia/Poland. The tag says -1- St.I/J.R.9.
I just got my hands on this tag recently and started the research.
I have checked the rangliste 1939 but haven't found a good match for it as a commander of I/JR 9 listed there was Oberstlt. von Schellwitz, who actually wasn't bataillons chef in Polish campaign ( the rangliste reflects more 1937 situation apparently). Schellwitz became later a div. commander and surrendered in Italy so this couldn't been him for sure.
I couldn't unfortunately found more information on Kdr. I/JR 9 therefore started looking on the web and found Hannig being one, and thought it could be perhaps him. But as he was KIA in 1941 I have also deleted him from my list. Finally I have found by quite an accident that there was another guy before him: Major Jonas Graf zu Eulenburg -later a commander of Festung Glogau.
Ang yes! he was an owner of my tag!

Furthermore I have solved another riddle: a true place of Eulenburgs place of death which is mentioned to be "bei Bunzlau". The tag was recovered on the field next to town of Kreutzburg/now Kluczbork, Poland, former Stalag Luft 7 and later NKVD transit camp for German POW's in 1945.

I'm so damn happy! It seems to be another RKT dog tag in my collection!
