Unfortunately Jens none of what you have here helps. About the only thing we can say was that he seems to have been a Hauptfeldwebel at the time the photos were taken. That makes sense given the lack of combat awards in the photos.

If this is all you have i get the impression you have the left overs of a group. Award documents, WP, SB and other wartime documents being sold seperately.

You might be right that this is the left overs, and I know it was a long shot, but I had to give it a try..

Even though Hans Hofmann is a very commen name, I found a match on volksbund.de

                  Nachname: Hofmann
                  Vorname: Hans
                  Dienstgrad: Hauptmann
                  Geburtsdatum: 05.11.1914
                  Geburtsort: Hof/Saale
                  Todes-/Vermisstendatum: 11.05.1945
Hans Hofmann ruht auf der Kriegsgräberstätte in Jüterbog-Garnisionsfriedhof

the rank is diffrent but the birthdate and place match.. might it be the same guy?

Different Hofmann, must be. No way i think, that he could have jumped from oberfeldwebel late '43\early '44 to Hauptmann 18 months later.
