I am looking for info on the Kampfgruppe that was formed from the 265 Infanterie Division. I know most of the division was in Brittany at the Lorient stronghold... But they did have a Kampfgruppe that was almost immediately sent to Normandy when the landings started. I haven't been able to find much out about this Kampgruppe. So anything helps, thanks!

Hello
Here some informations about Kfgr. of 265.ID, also named Kampfgruppe Coep (Kdr of Gren. Regt. 896) :
Stab GR.896
III./GR.894
II./GR.895
I./AR.265
14./GR.894
14./GR.895
14./GR.896
13./GR.896.
That unit was formed in april 44 in order to fight against french resistance, very activ in Britany. The Kpfgr. began to move to Normandy the 7 of june.
Few weeks later, the II./GR.894 joined also the normand front.
All were subordinated to 91.ID in Saint Jores - Beaupte area (south of Carentan), later Mont Castre and .... They stayed with until end with it.

Thank you! Luft76, do you know if any of the Pionere Btl. was apart of the kampfgruppe? The Zetterling website says the 2nd company was with it. The main reason I would like to know is I have a Soldbuch to a soldier who was in 2./Pi.Btl. 265 and I am trying to figure out where he was during the summer of 44.
