    Unit History of Infanterie-Regiment 48.

    Hello everybody,

Due to some unexpected pleasant events I had the chance to afford myself a new uniform, which shall arive next month.
This uniform belonged to a Feldwebel of Infanterie-Regiment 48, and I have tried to find some information of where this unit saw action but I could not find much. I did find something about the fact that Infanterie-Regiment 48 was stationed in the Netherlands, but where?
I also have found some books about this Regiment, written by Dr. Heinz Michaelis, which I shall buy after I received the uniform.
But for now, Is there someone who knows where this unit saw action, or if there were any highly awared soldiers from it? (I found two until now.)

    With kind regards,

    Koen.

IR48 came to Holland in september 1940, stayed in "De Hoekse Waard" (Klaaswaal, Numansdorp f.e.) en moved to the Breda-Tilburg area october 25th 1940. I have been in contact with a person from De Hoekse Waard who is doing some heavy research on them. He also owns the history of this unit.
As for the history of 12 ID (and the actions of IR48) I can advise to buy Hermann Teske's "Bewegungskrieg - Führungsprobleme einer Infanterie-Division im Westfeldzug 1940", printed in Heidelberg 1955 by Scharnhorst Buchkameradschaft.
