    Info about 2 units

Hello, I have in my possession 2 documents of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force about the death of 2 german soldiers that were buried in the brazilian military cemetery of Pistoia in Italy.

I would like to know something more about these units, because I don't know what theu mean

    They are:

Stank/1 Geb Jag Ers V Ausb Regt 136

    and

    KRAFTF Ers Abt 5

    I didn't find anything about these 2.

    Thanks in advance.

    Julio

The 1st one is Gebirgsjäger-Ersatz- und Ausbildungs-Regiment 136, although I think you mean Stab rather than Stank...

      while the 2nd one is Kraftfahr-Ersatz-Abteilung 5

        Thanks a lot Huck

It´s interesting that these soldiers were KIA in Italy, and the lexicon do not say that these units were actually in Italy at the end of the war.

If you follow the 188. Reserve-Gebirgs-Division link on the first one you will see that it was based in Italy.
The two units you listed were training & replacement units for their parent units but were also known to of been caught up in combat in the later years of the war.
Do you have any information (i.e. names & date of death) on the 2 German soldiers?

The units given on dogtags don't necessarily have any direct relation to the field units these soldiers were with when they died, though the chances are one did belong to a gebirgsjäger unit and the other a transport unit.

Soldiers, were, especially late war, moved all over the place from one unit to another or one unit type to another.
