ss soldier help

Can anybody tell me if and how to research a member of the ss , i have his name which is W.GROSSE 12/SS.2 or is it impossible with only this info ? any info on this would be great cheers Dave

Aright,
very hard with out d.o.b. unless he is an officer you might be able to narrow it down.Also a few of the ss divisions had the 2 for there rgt names
and the 12 kompanie was usually a heavy weapons kompanie.

Thank you Jamie, i have done a google on 2nd ss rgt and i get Das reich , am i correct then in thinking he was a member of das reich ? cheers Dave

No Das Reich's were named rgts as in Der Fuhrer, Germania ect
could be lssah or polizei or totenkopf off top of my head, not sure which others numbered the rgts 1,2 with it been 12/2 would take to mean 12 kompanie 2 regiment.But would you write rgt name on Helmet?Who knows?
