    104. Schtz. Reg. Africa campaign diploma & EK2

    Hi Friends,
i'm trying to know in which occasion was attribuited in Africa this EK2 with its own diploma dated April 1st 1942 and signed by George von Bismark general of the 21. Pz Div. I read some documents and orders of battle, but there isn't anything who lead back in that date or around....
    Could you explain me?
    Thank you in advance,
    Alex

It could of been for fighting on the Gazala Line between the ending of the German counter-offensive in early February and the Battle Of The Gazala Line commencing in late May.
Here is a North African Campaign timeline..

Nice Signature of Georg Von Bismarck, KIA September of that year if my memory serves me right.

          Hi Mates,
many thanks for your replies; i have read many diplomas of the 104. Schtz. Reg in Africa and noticed that in April 1942, some of them were signed with the 21th Pz. Div. stamp (as mine) other still with the 15th. As many books report, this unit was yeld from the 15th to the 21th around 1st September 1941 so why this confusion on the Divisional unit stamp? Please take a look at this link and you will have the evidence of what i said (notice the 21th Div stamp is exactly the same at mine one):

He died the 30th August 1942 on the second El Alamein's battle when his command truck drove upon a mine..

                Hi Alex

Finding details about this particular soldier might be difficult, I guess.

There was hardly any fighting in March 1942 in Lybia but still, literally thousands of awards have been given (see below how many in just one division). Apparently most were related to the previous battles during November 1941- January 1942

                Hope it helps, Jerry
