104IR was created on 6 okt. 1936 in Wehrkries XII.
After the battle for France in 1940, it got renamed to Schützen-Regiment 104, under the wing of 15. Panzer-Division.
This Schützen-Regiment 104 got transferred to North-Africa in early 1941.
First Bataillon got destroyed after some battles and later re-made.
On 5. Juli 1942 it got renamed to Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 104 but was still part of the 14. Panzer-Division.
On 1 Sept. 1942 it got transferred to the 21. Panzer-Division. Later in 1943 they surrendered.

On 15. Juli 1943, a new Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 104 was made in Italy.
Under the wing of the 15. Panzer-Grenadier-Division.
