    German Army Medical Officer

Hey, I recently purchased a German Army Officer tunic which is named to Oberstleutenant Frieke and is dated 1942. It also says: No. 2926 (B). Any information provided would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    Regards,
    Matt

Medical officers did not use the rank titles of line officers. If there are MEDICAL boards and tabs on this, they have been switched on an altered tunic from a branch that DID use "Oberstleutnant."

There was no officer in the German army in January 1939 or living in this rank or higher in May 1944 named "Frieke."

Are yiou sure it is not FRICKE? And a better description of the actual insignia as well as what award loops are on there would help.

The name on the tunic might be Fricke, but it is worn and hard to decifer. It is a M36 style tunic with loops that might have fit a 7 or 8 size ribbon bar, and two awards on the left pocket. There is also some repairs that were made on the left sleeve that look like they might have been from a campaign shield.
      Thanks,
      Matt

Loops sound good for the rank

The next Lowell, MA militaria show at the VFW Post on Plain Street is Sunday morning, March 7. Happy to decipher if you can make it. There are always Association members there.
