    DKIG Infanterie NCO.

    Hello,

I have bought a Piped Service tunic of an Oberfeldwebel who was awarded with the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold.
His white branch colour indicates that he was part of the Infanterie.
Furthermore he was awarded the Ostmedal and he had a Schutzenschnur with one acorn, and a medium size ribbon bar, the Eisernes Kreuz I and II Klasse and two other awards.
Although it is quite difficult to find out who the owner of the uniform was I think this should be possible.
I have not seen many pictures of soldiers with a Schutzenschnur, (even less with one acorn), especially DKIG recipients.
Does anybody have a clue where I can start to find researching this?
(If anybody allready knows the name this would be perfect haha )

    With kind regards,

    Koen.

Without more information your chances are zero.

There were hundreds if not more infantry oberfelwebel DKiG holders, the marksmanship lanyard won't help one bit.

At a minimum you need a name or the regiments number.
Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

I used to (still at times) collect items from the 14. Infanterie-Division. In that division alone there are almost 150 holders of the DKiG - about 40 of which have some rank of Feldwebel. Considering there were about three hundred infantry divisions, odds are there are potentially thousands of recipients. I also do not know of any list of shooting lanyard recipientss to narrow it down with either.

It'll be next to impossible to ID this as Simon said with what you've provided us.

Thank you both for your replies.

I wish I could provide more information but the Tunic does not have buttons with the regimental(?) numbers on them, and no cyphers either on his shoulderboards.
