Kameraden,
A friend of mine is trying to research his ancestor's WW2 service. He has several photos, clearly showing him attached to Bew.Kfz.Kp.169 in Russia. A lot of them have locations written on the back all in '41-42 such as along the Volga, Lido (?).
One picture shows him standing next to a sign with the kompanie lettering, but there is a symbol (more looking like the NSFK encircled three gull symbol) as well on the sign- also "OstEinsatz" painted on the sign.
I know that this is a motor transport repair battalion, but I cannot locate any information on where they served, where they were formed up, etc. I found several references to Kp. numbers close to 169, but nothing specifically for Kp. 169.
I pointed him to several German sites for searching service records, but I was hoping someone would have some information on these repair units- where they NSKK, or attached to Heer?
Any information or leads would be appreciated, Thanks!
