Hi all, I've just received some records from WAST and there were some scans of a soldbuch. My question is can I get the book in hardcopy? Or am I stuck with just the scans. Thanks

I doubt you will get much more.
You got more than I ever got from them.
I respect them and their mission, I offered to cover any costs plus whatever extra they thought right to charge me for their help.
but they refused to give me any info, none.
--and still asked for donations about 100 times since then, I expect another request from Wast soon.Comment

I was wondering the same thing. I just received the records of my Oma’s Uncle and included in that was a copy of one of his Identification books.Comment

He's my grandfather if that helps at all, I've called them and they said that they won't send them out but I don't see why not, it's not like he was a historical figure or anything.

As far as I know you cannot raise a claim to get the original Soldbuch of your grandfather from the WASt because the Soldbuch always was in the possess/property of the German Government. It was only given to the soldier.
Nevertheless often it was usual to sent the Soldbuch to the families of soldiers KIA. But they did it voluntary without admitting a claim.
