Gerdan is right and the Oberleutnant appears in the jan '39 Heeres rangliste. He was promoted oberleutnant 1.8.38 and at that time was adjutant of the I abteilung, eisenbahnpionier Regiment 68. He was promoted Major 1.6.43 and was, by 1944 in the General Staff.
