I understand that Oskar Dirlewanger was in the Condor Legion from April 1937 to May 1939. What is known about his time in Spain?

Dirlewanger was wounded several times during WWI. During the Spanish Civil War, he served with the Condor Legion from 1936 to 1939 and was wounded three times.[2] Both times he was considered a model soldier and was well thought of in military circles. Following further intervention on his behalf by his patron Berger, he successfully petitioned to have his case reconsidered in light of his service in Spain.[4] Dirlewanger was reinstated into the Nazi party, albeit with a higher (and therefore less honourable) party number. His doctorate was also restored by the University of Frankfurt.
In the Legion Condor he started in Sept 1936. From April 1937 - May 1939he served with the tank unit "Imker" as instructor and company commander. At the end of the Spanish Civil War he had the Spanish Military Merit Cross, the Spain campaign medal and the German Spanish Cross (silver)
