Luftnachrichten-Regiment 1

Hi,

Does anyone have any information on 3.Ln.Rgt.1 (3. Kompanie Luftnachrichten-Regiment 1), like what their role was up until April 1941 and then anything on 3.Ln.Rgt.5 up until late '42? Also, does anyone know the basic role of Luftnachrichten units?

Finally, I was looking up some information on them from http://www.ww2.dk and was curious what the bolded words/ terms in the brackets mean. Just ignore the other details...

• Stab I./1 in Bernau (from Stab I./Luftnachrichten-Regiment 12) with:
• 1./1 (Fernsprech)
• 2./1 (Funk- und Funkhorch)
• 3./1 (Funkpeil- und Leuchtfeuer)

Hope this is of help:

Fernsprech: Has to do with communications, esp. telephone (old German bureaucratic name for a Telefon is Fernsprecher).

Funk: radio electronics.

Funkhorch: "horch" means something like "eavesdropping."

Funkpeil- und Leuchtfeuer: Must have something to do with a Leitstelle.
