    2 Ln. Ers. Abt. III/7

    Hello Gents

Is there somebody who can tell me more about 2 Ln. Ers. Abt. III/7. A friend of mine has found a small coin with this print. It is from a lattery. Where were they in Holland and what were they doing?

    best regards

    regards Erwin

The abbreviation stands for Luftnachrichten Ersatz Abteilung.

Thanks Simon but i already found out what the abbreviation means. If i'm correct it is the 2nd Luftnachrichten Ersatz Abteilung, 3rd Battailon, 7th kompany.

The coin with this inscription was found in a "farm" who was build like a bunker. The "farm" is called Birkenhof and was built in Valkenswaard in 1942. The germans used this bunker to overhear Allied radio communication.

        Regards Erwin

the 2 refers to the company number. The III/7 to me sounds more like it comes from Wehrkreis III.

In any case the point is, it's a depot training formation and not a field formation. Likely a soldier who'd gone through training with this unit prior to being sent to his field unit.

              It's a military district.

The LW used Luftgau but the idea is the same.
