I am seeking some information on a deceased (not KIA) relation of mine (military record etc), and have submitted a request throught the Dienstelle's online application form, but have received no reply after a few weeks. Is this a common occurrence?
I appreciate that the wheels of bureaucracy turn slowly, but I would have expected some sort of acknowledgement of the application at least.
Has anyone else tried this method of getting information?
Is there any other more efficient method of finding information?

Yep ! A friend of mine asked for the records of his grandfahters...and it took month until her receipt a notice that work is in progress and at least 2 years (!) until he became the wanted information ... as most of the stuff is not in online archives most of the work has to be done in the classic way by searching tons of paper... and that takes time!
