    Germania and Wiking February 1943 please

    Folks, I have the Wehrpass to an Ustuf from III./SS Panzer Grenadier Bataillon 9 (<ST1lace w:st="on">Germania</ST1lace>) who was KIA 27/02/42 at "Isjum" in the Charkow area - apparently leading an assault on a village (letter from his CO to his wife). Can anyone please help me with details of what Viking/Germania were doing on that date to help me work out where he was and what the 9th Company were doing on that date? Many thanks. Truebrit.<O></O>

    Could it be that you're mistaking about the date ?
    "KIA 27/02/42 at "Isjum" in the Charkow area "
    On this date the division was in the MIUS defensive position.
    Isjum : here the division fought feb/march 1943 while retreating (movement startig as early as december 1942) to the region of Charkow (where the division held out until december 1943)
    Strange, but the "Vermisstenbildliste" do not mention one single case of a missing soldier this place or period.

      Hello P. Yes, you are correct, I AM mistaken about the date. It was 27/02/1943. I am not sure about the actual location of his death, the KIA list says near Isjum. Anything you have on Germania at that time would be really welcome. Many thanks. P.
