    Help with unit 2.E./J. R. 105 II

    Hi mates,

I have an unit marked belt and buckle and was wondering if someone could tell me something about the Infantry Reg. 105 and the rest of the markings of the belt which go like this 2.E./J.R. 105 II

    Many thanks

    Hi Ace!
Have you checked the lexikon for the IR 105?

    This is the link:

    http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...nter/IR105.htm

However i think it's better if you post a pic of your buckle, so we can see it and what is write.

    My books:

    - THE WEHRPAß & SOLDBUCH OF THE WH
    - THE SS TK RING
    - THE ITALIAN-GERMAN MEDAL
    - THE ANTI PARTISAN BADGE
    - THE AWARDS OF THE LW

    and more!

      Hi Antony
Thank you very much for the link
I don't speak german at all but I can figure out several things.
I will post a picture of the belt later.
      Best,
      Ace

As requested I am attaching a picture...unit mark is both on the tongue of the buckle and on the belt...always together since 1937

The "E" is probably for "Ersatz", or replacement.

If you are interested in the 105th Infanteri Regiment, I suggest reading

          http://www.amazon.com/HELLS-GATE-Che...1132605&sr=8-3

In my humble opinion, 72. Infanterie Division was one of the most battle hardened and experienced units in the Wehrmacht.

The "E" in this case is not for an "ersatz" unit.
In fact the 105 Infanterie-ersatz-regiment does not exist.
I saw also that the 2 batallion of the 105 IR was designed with the letter (E) that i don't know what means. Probably Ian or someone other can help us.

It could means "entlausung", but i'm sure of this at 1%!!!!

            Better to wait other answers...

Nice belt (or part of it), I would like to see the buckle too

If I read it correctly from Lexikon, the 105th infantrie regiment was part of the 34th infantrie division from 1936 to 1939. 105th was then moved to 72th Infanterie-Division that was formed on 19 September 1939.

I got one waffenrock from early days of 105th infantrie regiment.
                  .

                    E

                    "Ergaenzung" would be my guess.
