    Gren.Rgt.36

    Hello all

I bought a marinefrontspange with some papers, these papers are marked Gren.Rgt.36 (159.I.DIV), I would like to know if Kriegsmarine men took part in the fighting with this regiment ?

    Thanks in advance

    Best regards

    Eric

I would say it is more likely that he was transferred from the Kriegsmarine to the Heer if it was late war...this was common place in late 1944/early 1945.
The same for Luftwaffe...due to the fact there were not as many servicable ship and/or aircraft large bulks were transferred to either Heer or SS.

    Incidentally Gren.Rgt. 36 was part of 9 Inf.Div.!?!!?

    9. Infanterie Division:
    1939 Westen (Saarpfalz)
    1940 Luxemburg, Frankreich (Somme)
    1941 Südrußland
    1942 Krim, Kaukasus
    1943 Kaukasus, Kuban, Krim
    1944 Südukraine vernichtet.
    9. Volks Grenadier Division:
    1945 Westen (Ardennen, Hunsrück)

    159 Infanterie Division
was formed 9.10.1944 by renamin 159 Res.Inf.Div....it consisted of:

    Grenadier-Regiment 1209 from Reserve Gren.Ret. 9, Btl. 36, 481 and I./Sicherungs-Rgt. 199
    Grenadier-Regiment 1210 from Res.Gren.Rgt. 251, Btl. 57, 205, 355 and I. Marine Ersatz Bataillon
    Grenadier-Regiment 1211 new from Stab Gren.Rgt. 933 (244 Inf.Div., II., III. and 13./933 also II./Flieger-Ausb.Rgt. 90
    Füsilier-Kompanie 159, later Divisions-Füsilier-Bataillon 159 (with Granatwerfer-Kompanie 1059)
    Artillerie-Regiment 1059
    Panzerjäger-Abteilung 1059 (1 Panzerjäger, 3 Fla)
    Pionier-Bataillon 1059, Nachrichten-Abteilung 1059, Feldersatz-Bataillon 1059
    Versorgungseinheiten 1059.

1944 in Belfort, Oct. Elsaß, 1945 Elsaß.

Was this a few documents, 2 photos and a Marinefrontspange from Militäriaweb?
