Name & FP # IN M42 Helmet HELP

    Name & FP # IN M42 Helmet HELP

    I recently bought this untouched m42 no decal army helmet directly from a local vets basement from his son. The liner is named to Gefr. Pabst and his feldpost number is 44264C. The helmet and liner are in great condition and look to have seen little use. Can anyone ID the FP # and is there any info available on Gefr. Pabst? Thank you all in advance.

          As for Gefr Pabst, there are hundreds of fallen soldiers with that surname on the Volksbund site so it may be an impossible task to tell if he survived the war or not.

            Which means that as this is an M42 lid we can say its from the last evolution of the unit's name and from the 2 Batterie.

            The next thing is to work out how this might have come into the hands of an American soldier as H.Flak abt.279 belonged to the 25 Pz.Div. for the last year of the war or so and it fought on the Eastern front.

            However, parts of the Flak battalion, including the 2 Bttr. were detached from the division in 1945 for rebuilding and from what i can tell seem to have seen action against the Western allies.
            Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

              Thanks for your help in identifying the FP number. Sadly the vet had passed away and along with his passing so died the history of the helmet, his son didn't know any history of his father's souvenirs.
