Both Bataillone were created with effect from March 15, 1941. On March 26, 1941, “Ost” was redesignated “Südost” and “Nordwest” changed to “Nordost.” The two units combined as a new SS-Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon “Ost” on April 22, 1941, to provide replacements for all Waffen-SS units in Poland, soon to include the Kommandostab “Reichsführer-SS.”

In mid-April 1943 the unit was split into the SS-Grenadier-Ersatz-Bataillon “Ost” (initially in Breslau) and the SS-Grenadier-Ausbildungs-Bataillon “Ost” (first based in ****omir). Both units received the numerical suffix designation “31” in October 1943 and in December that year their titles changed to SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Ausbildungs-Bataillon 31 and SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Ersatz-Bataillon 31. Their numerical designations was then changed from “31” to “18” in April 1944. The two units finally combined in March 1945 to become the SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Ausbildungs- und Ersatz Bataillon 18 and were sent to Bremen as a combat unit.

I see some moronic edit program doesn't allow the correct spelling of the city where Ost was based. <o></o>

That has nothing to do with SS-Unterführerschule Breslau-Lissa!

What I showed is the SS units that were in Breslau-Lissa, not that Btl. "Ost" had anything to do with the School!
